In 1925, Harris M. Hanshue’s airline, Western Air Express, became part of an airmail feeder route to the Transcontinental Air Mail Route. On April 17, 1926, the Western Air Express plane stopped for fuel, delivered mail and later passengers at Rockwell Field in Las Vegas as it initiated its first flights between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City using single-engine Douglas M-2 biplanes with open cockpits.
For being a southern Nevada commercial aviation pioneer who provided the first passenger and air mail service to Las Vegas, Harris M. Hanshue earned his place in the Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame.
